Kymco Recalls 2016 K-Pipe Motorcycles to Correct a Gear Shift Pattern That Was Assembled in a Reverse Sequence

KYMCO (KYMCO USA) is recalling certain model year 2016 K-Pipe motorcycles manufactured March 1, 2016, to May 25, 2016.

In the affected models, the gear shift pattern was assembled in a reverse sequence when compared to the standard setup. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 123, "Motorcycle Controls and Displays."

If the motorcycle shifts opposite of other motorcycles, a rider may be confused and may select the wrong gear, adversely affecting control of the motorcycle and increasing the risk of a crash.

476 units are affected.
