Gerbing's Recalls 12-Volt Heated Motorcycle Jacket Liners for Burn Hazard

This recall involves Gerbing's and Harley-Davidson® black nylon, 12-volt, heated jacket liners. The jacket liners heat up when plugged into a vehicle, such as a motorcycle or snowmobile.

Gerbing's has received two reports of the jacket liners overheating, causing minor dime-sized burns to consumers' backs, resulting in blisters.

9900 units are affected.

Years ago I made our own heated vests. During our last trip I got three very bad burns when some of my threads broke letting the wires drop to the bottom near my zipper. I've had surgery in the abdominal area so didn't know I was being burned until it was pretty deep. Just so ya know, check your wiring if you can to make sure it doesn't cross or concentrate in one area.
My burns cover spots the size of a quarter. Boy that smarts. Rosie
